Smitten by hotels ever since she was a kid, hoarding toiletries started early and picked up steam as Michele Sponagle began a career as a freelance journalist. Her globetrotting has taken her to properties in more than 50 countries, from rustic B&Bs to sprawling resorts.

There are some hotels that stay with you long after you’ve checked out, and for me, THE PIG at Bridge Place was one of them. From the moment I arrived, I was completely blown away by the property. The beautifully designed rooms perfectly balanced luxury with character, the peaceful countryside setting offered escape, the spa treatments were wonderfully indulgent, and the gourmet cuisine was simply outstanding. Every meal celebrated fresh, local ingredients and showcased exactly why THE PIG Hotels have earned such a devoted following.

Ever since that memorable stay, I’ve been eager to see what the group would create next. So, when I heard the announcement of THE PIG-on the farm in Warwickshire, I couldn’t have been more excited. Judging by everything revealed so far, this new countryside hotel looks set to become one of the UK’s most exciting luxury hotel openings of 2027.

Luxury in the Heart of Warwickshire

Opening in late summer 2027, THE PIG-on the farm will become the tenth hotel in THE PIG collection and its most northerly property to date. Located on the historic Walton Estate in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside, the hotel is less than two hours from London and approximately one hour from Birmingham. It’s also positioned just five miles from Stratford-upon-Avon, with Royal Leamington Spa and Warwick only a short drive away, making it an ideal destination for a luxury countryside break.

The hotel promises to be the largest and most ambitious expression yet of THE PIG’s much-loved “restaurant-with-rooms” concept, combining exceptional food, relaxed luxury and a deep connection to the surrounding landscape.

Like every property in THE PIG collection, this project begins with an extraordinary building. THE PIG-on the farm occupies a beautifully restored Grade II-listed manor house and a collection of historic farm buildings that have been carefully brought back to life.

THE PIG acquired the Walton Estate in 2022, but rather than rushing the project, several years were dedicated to planning permissions, heritage approvals and ensuring every stage of the restoration respected the estate’s remarkable history. Construction officially began in January 2026 following one of the group’s most complex restorations to date.

Guests will arrive via a picturesque tree-lined driveway before discovering 53 acres of rolling pasture and farmland. The landscape itself is steeped in history, featuring the earthworks of a deserted medieval village dating back to the 13th century, alongside archaeological remains believed to include a Neolithic enclosure and Iron Age features. It’s a destination where history and hospitality naturally come together.

Character, charm and classic PIG Style

One of the reasons THE PIG Hotels continue to stand out is their commitment to preserving the unique character of every property. Rather than creating something polished beyond recognition, they celebrate original features and allow each building’s personality to shine.

At THE PIG-on the farm, weathered brick walls, exposed timber beams, centuries-old barns and wonderfully wonky courtyards will all remain part of the experience. The result is a hotel that feels authentic, welcoming and full of soul—a place that has evolved over generations rather than being created overnight.

Food has always been at the heart of every THE PIG hotel, and Warwickshire’s newest opening is taking that philosophy even further.

The beautifully restored farm barn will house the largest restaurant in THE PIG collection, opening onto what will become the biggest restaurant terrace across all ten hotels. It’s easy to imagine long summer lunches stretching into the afternoon and relaxed evening meals enjoyed beneath the stars.

As with every THE PIG property, the menu will focus on the freshest seasonal produce. The hotel’s famous 25-mile menu will showcase ingredients grown onsite alongside produce sourced from trusted local farmers, growers and artisan producers throughout Warwickshire.

One particularly interesting feature is that guests will encounter the kitchen garden almost immediately upon arrival.

This flourishing space will quite literally become the beating heart of the hotel, supplying fruit, vegetables, herbs and edible flowers that travel only a few meters before reaching the kitchen. Additional estate facilities, including polytunnels, fruit gardens, a dedicated mushroom house and an onsite smokery, further strengthen THE PIG’s commitment to sustainable, locally sourced dining.

It’s this genuine connection between the garden and the plate that continues to define the THE PIG experience.

Unique and boutique

THE PIG-on the farm will feature just 35 individually designed rooms, thoughtfully spread throughout the farmhouse and surrounding farm buildings.

No two rooms will be exactly alike, allowing each to celebrate the unique character of the historic buildings. Guests can expect exposed beams, original architectural details, luxurious furnishings and carefully curated interiors that blend rustic charm with modern comfort.

Inside the main farmhouse, welcoming sitting rooms and the signature bar will offer cozy spaces to relax after a day exploring the Warwickshire countryside.

Wellness also forms an important part of the experience. Overlooking a beautiful wildflower meadow, the hotel’s Shepherd’s Hut treatment rooms have been designed to sit naturally within the landscape while reflecting the understated luxury synonymous with the brand.

Having enjoyed the spa experience at Bridge Place, I already know how thoughtfully these spaces are designed, and I have no doubt these tranquil treatment rooms will become another highlight for guests seeking a peaceful countryside escape.

Environmental responsibility remains central to every aspect of THE PIG-on the farm. Alongside extensive food production across the estate, the restoration includes electric vehicle charging, carefully considered environmental initiatives and a long-term commitment to preserving one of Warwickshire’s most important historic sites.

Rather than simply restoring old buildings, THE PIG is investing in its future while protecting the landscape that surrounds them.

Anticipation for the landmark opening

Kevin Styles, CEO of THE PIG Hotels, describes the project as one the team has patiently waited several years to bring to life. By respecting the remarkable heritage of the Walton Estate while expanding the restaurant-with-rooms concept further than ever before, THE PIG-on the farm represents the group’s most ambitious project to date.

Having experienced the exceptional hospitality, outstanding food and genuine charm of THE PIG at Bridge Place, I can’t wait to see this latest chapter unfold. If it captures even a fraction of the magic that made my own stay so memorable, THE PIG-on the farm is destined to become one of the UK’s finest luxury countryside hotels.

For food lovers, spa enthusiasts, history buffs and anyone searching for a memorable luxury escape in Warwickshire, this is undoubtedly one hotel opening worth adding to your travel wish list for 2027.
