Slovenia has quietly been upping its tourism game in 2025, as accommodations sprout up like so many red carnations (Slovenia’s national flower). Here are a few that shatter the stereotype of traditional Eastern European properties.

Hiša Marija – Wine Paradise Glavinič
This boutique property in Miklavž pri Ormožu offers nine sustainable rooms on an organic farm, complete with a natural bio pool and wellness amenities. Rooms are thoughtfully designed in warm woods and complementary dark linens and fixtures, with views over the family vineyard, farm or the Jeruzalemsko-Ormoške gorice Landscape Park.
Guests can sign up for onsite wine tastings, rent bicycles, visit the town of Jeruzalem, work out in the fitness center or play basketball on the outdoor court or sit by the bonfire in the evening. The restaurant Črna Kuhna serves local cuisine, with ingredients sourced from the on-site farm and suppliers immediately surrounding the property.

Hotel Termal
In the village of Moravske Toplice sits the Hotel Termal, which focuses on quartz, crystals and thermal waters. This resort has both indoor and outdoor mineral pools, unfiltered thermal mineral water plunge pools — also known as black baths — a chromotherapy relaxation room and waterpark. The hotel’s private health clinic enlists orthopaedic specialists, neurologists and rheumatologists to ensure you get the most of ‘taking the waters.’ There are also wellness treatments available.
Of the property’s 136 rooms, 54 of them have been recently renovated in a light color scheme with natural woods in a variety of room types.

Jakob’s Lodge
Jakob’s Lodge is an alpine rent-a-hotel in Pokljuka for those who want space for family and friends or total peace and quiet far from the madding crowd. The lodge contains six luxe rooms with décor inspired by the property’s surroundings. Centuries-old wood from traditional hayracks and Slovenian larch trees are used in the rooms and form the lodge itself. Glacial blue and gray complement the warm wood colors to create a serene, cozy space to relax by your in-room (electric) fireplace.
While you do rent the full lodge, this is definitely not an Airbnb; the resort comes complete with a private restaurant to enjoy chef-prepared, locally sourced meals, comfy lobby couches to partake in custom cocktails and staff to indulge your every whim.

Hotel APRIL1550
If a city stay is more your thing, boutique Hotel APRIL1550 in Ljubljana has undergone a major reno to pretty up its spaces. This hotel is in an original building from 1550 and, although it is a heritage building, inside of its ancient walls are light, bright interiors, beautiful in their simplicity.
The hotel has eight uniquely designed rooms as well as a public space that triples as a breakfast café, coffee bar and cocktail venue serving Slovenian wines and craft beers.
Now the only thing you have to do is figure out which one to stay at first.
