The hotel openings in Los Cabos have been happening at a steady pace over the past five years and, soon, Marriott’s partner brand, The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts, will be taking the plunge into the pool by opening Solaz Resort in the popular sun destination.
Designed by architectural firm Sordo Madaleno, the 128-room resort, plus 21 residences, is spread out over 34 acres. Its cascading terraces built with stone, granite, marble and wood look out over the Sea of Cortez and its rugged coastline.
Rooms are expected to be chic and contemporary in a warm, natural palette of grey, cream, and brown. They will also incorporate the three Gs: glass, granite and good design. Each room will feature a private entrance, custom furnishings and original artwork by Mexican artist César López-Negrete, a sea view and anoutside terrace that flows directly from your living space—some with a private pool or firepit that raise the fancy bar.
If you can tear yourself away from your room, you can check out one of the six dining and drinking options at the resort including the fresh fish and seafood restaurant, Al Paira, and La Cava with its selection of more than 2,500 vintages—many from the local region.
The resort also features a spot dedicated to pampering—the Ojo de Liebre Spa. It will offer thestandard manis and pedis as well as the one-and-only Thalassotherapy treatment on Baja California and an au courant Himalayan Salt Igloo. Infinity pools tiled in butterfly green granite also line the white sand beach.
Solaz Resort, Los Cabos will join its seven other siblings under The Luxury Collection label in Mexico. Though originally scheduled to open in June 2018, the property is now expected to open in September.
