Executive editor

A hotel lover since her first hotel stay, when she realized she didn’t have to make her own bed, Janice Tober is a freelance travel writer who has contributed to Lonely Planet, CN Traveler’s HotelChatter, Bravo TV’s Jetset and others.

Sitting amongst the modern towers of Billionaire’s Row, the Park Hyatt New York opened in 2014 in Midtown Manhattan, steps from Central Park and across the way from Carnegie Hall. Now, 10 years later, the hotel is debuting its ultra-luxe suite of all suites, the Manhattan Suite, as part of its anniversary renovations.

If square footage is an indication of luxury, this suite offers plenty of it. It consists of 3,500-square-feet--in Manhattan, that’s 10 average NYC apartments in one suite. But size isn’t its only feature. There are two complementary suites connected to the main one, providing three bedrooms, three bathrooms, two powder rooms and two balconies, accommodating up to 10 guests. And its position on the 25th floor provides 180-degree views over the New York skyline with 18-foot-high windows.

The Manhattan Suite also houses a bespoke art collection and a curated collection of coffee table books focused on some of the world’s greatest artists, sculptors, designers and authors. Alongside the elegant surroundings are a good deal of modern conveniences, creating a seamless mix of beauty and high-tech. New York-based design studio Sawyer & Company crafted the interiors to be both expansive and intimate, featuring richly textured fabrics and elegant furnishings.

The kitchen comes equipped with the fanciest Miele appliances available and the Limoges dinnerware is as lofty as the penthouse—created by manufacturer Bernardaud—30,000 feet above your standard Ikea ware.

Bedrooms sound too good to be true with a private bar, complete with a curated wine selection, because, really, who wants to walk all that way to the other side of the suite for vino? Sferra linens cover the king of beds–Bryte Balance Smart beds, equipped with AI-powered, multi-sensory technology. If the bed detects pressure points while you sleep, it gently readjusts to cradle you appropriately. Download the Bryte app and you can find out how long you slept, how well and what sleep stages you went through. While this falls into the nice-to-know-not-need-to-know category, there’s more. The AI sleep concierge will provide you with recommendations on how to adjust the bed to give you, purportedly, the best sleep of your life. And when sleepy time is over, the bed gently undulates to wake you from your deep slumber.

The master bathroom comes complete with a walk-in combo rain shower/steam room, marble soaking tub, heated marble floor, a deluxe Japan-made Toto toilet and the oft-lauded—but often confusing to North American travelers—bidet. Private airport transfers are also included, but if you’re feeling flush, book the private jet transfer service to NYC.

There is an exhaustive list of additional amenities and perks to make sure your stay is all that but brace yourself for the cost: stays start at USD$50,000 per night with a two-night minimum. If you didn’t even blink at the price, keep in mind that I’m an excellent roomie!

Reservations for the Manhattan Suite must be made at least 72 hours in advance and can be done by contacting the hotel directly at +1 (888) 974-5528.  For more information on Park Hyatt New York, visit www.parkhyattnewyork.com.
