With an upscale and high style similar to successful Hyde-branded nightspots in Miami, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, midtown Miami’s new HYDE Midtown Miami is the district’s latest dash of cool, smack-dab in the epicenter of Miami’s ever-evolving art and design scene.
Sophisticated and sexy, built with the über-hip young professionals and creative business types in mind, the 60-room, all-suite hotel is married to 410 luxury condominiums across 32 floors, everything co-owned by sbe, the LA-based lifestyle hospitality group responsible for the nearby SLS LUX Brickell and SLS Brickell, both also quite cool.
Designed by the big guns at David Rockwell, the Hyde manages to integrate modern tech with local art. Guests get their art fix kicks right in the hotel: The custom art work by international artists is a visual feast—paintings, drawings, screen prints and murals. The art collection also includes site-specific art installations by Anastasia Samoylova, Cynthia Soto and Malene Landgreen, among others. The lobby and public areas are a barrage of color, like the inside of a candy store.
The rooms come with little kitchenettes, with layouts lending a homey feel, almost like you’re staying in a mini apartment.
The rooftop is a playground unto itself with a nice pool, a little bar and private cabanas, plus a tennis court and a putting green. In case you need help spending your money, a Lincoln house car is at the ready, with custom shopping experiences tailored to suit your retail needs.
This is the second Hyde project in south Florida, the first being the Hyde Hollywood Resort which opened last winter—and there’s more to come: the Hyde Beach House is set to open in Hollywood in 2019.
