With a plan to have 20 hotels by 2020, Canadian hotelier Groupe Germain adds to its fashionable family with the debut of Alt Hotel Calgary East Village.

This up and coming area of Calgary has welcomed the development of green spaces on St. Patrick’s Island, innovative dining options in the renovated Simmons Building and the recent opening of Calgary’s eye-catching New Central Library.

As Alt Hotel Calgary East Village joins the neighborhood, it already has a Calgary connection as sister property to Hotel Le Germain which opened in the city’s downtown in 2010. Featuring 152 contemporary rooms, all with views of the Bow River, this boutique property was designed by LEMAYMICHAUD Architecture and Design, inspired by the area’s industrial past.

Standard Alt room amenities are found within: modern décor touches like Egyptian cotton and bamboo linens and a feather down duvet, a workstation with ergonomic chair and an Italian-designed armchair. Every room includes a spa-style shower and Quebec-made Bella Pella toiletries as well as a bonus for caffeine junkies: in-room Keurig coffee machines and Camellia Sinensis tea.

Travelers wanting to combat jet-lag effects can request yoga mats and access the hotel’s yoga video series or access the machines and weights of the 24-hour fitness room. Every room includes complimentary Wi-Fi, Chromecast media streaming and board games can be requested for those who prefer old-school entertainment.

Alt style greets guests upon entering the lobby: Alt Expo, a photo essay of Calgary by local photographer The Living Breathing Street, and Altcetera, a grab and go food counter. Two additional restaurants will be opened in 2019 and the hotel also has four multipurpose rooms for meetings.

And Alt Hotel hospitality standards extend to this Calgary property, too: children under 12 stay free, canines are welcome and while check-in is at 3 p.m., check-out timing is determined by the guest.
