Apparently, Portland, Oregon, still has it all going on. From the beginning of 2017 to the end of 2018, nearly 4,000 additional hotel rooms will be available in the city fondly known as Stumptown. The Radisson RED Portland Downtown is the latest hotel to join in the fun.

The Radisson RED brand is the Radisson Hotel Group’s answer to AC Hotels by Marriott, TRU by Hilton and the Mama Shelters of the world. These lifestyle brands aim to be stylish but moderately priced and are positioned to appeal to the young and young-at-heart, creative urbanites looking for a more interactive guest experience. Rooms are well decorated, but functional, and often small to encourage guests to head to the hotel’s public spaces to work, post on Instagram and compare city notes with fellow travelers.

As the second Radisson RED to open in the US, the Portland property opens in November with 180 relatively large rooms, starting at 292 square feet for a Standard King and going up to a very generous 475 square feet for a Studio King.

With no front desk to impede your progress—you use a mobile app on your phone to check in and open your room door—you’ll get into your graphic art-laden room lickety split. Rooms feature simple, modern furnishings—some of which are designed by local artists and designers. One item that sticks out is the freshly restyled picnic table where you can spread out all of your stuff, eat some grab ‘n go food or do a little gaming on your laptop before bedtime. You can also stream Netflix to the in-room TV.

When you want out of your room for awhile, the hotel has plenty of communal space to set the social scene abuzz. OUIBar + KTCHN provides the food and drink you need to fuel up for the night and the fitness center is there if you fuel up a bit too much. There is also a games room and a Starbucks off the lobby.

Rooms start at US$129.
